The City of Topeka (KS) is seeking a professional civil and environmental engineer to complete work involving supervising, coordinating and administering major public improvement projects and programs, with a concentration for GIS Mapping and asset management of the City's Water System, including Treatment-Storage-Pumping-Distribution Systems. Work involves supervising and participating in the planning, design, budgeting, and scheduling of engineering projects, including overseeing the work of contractors and consultants. It also involves the performance of special studies and projects, writing reports and findings, administration of contracts, and meeting with individuals and groups to discuss public works projects involving water system assets, both existing and proposed. An employee in this classification exercises considerable independence in the performance of duties, receiving general supervision from a superior.
Annual entry salary up to $74,707 DOQ

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or closely related field and registration as a Professional Civil Engineer either in the State of KS or with the ability to obtain KS reciprocity within six months of hire date. Must also have at least three years engineering experience after professional registration with at least two years as a project manager and four years of engineering experience in water systems planning, design, construction, operations and asset management.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and city insurable driving record.
