The Riverside County Transportation Department is seeking a Traffic Engineering Project Manager to manage their Traffic Safety Program and traffic-related improvement projects. These projects involve significant resources, complex technical execution requirements, complicated environmental and regulatory issues, Federal and/or State funding, and relationship management issues. Therefore, candidates must have a strong knowledge of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), California Vehicle Code (CVC), and Caltrans standards. Ideal candidates will have a background in traffic safety engineering, a traffic engineer license, experience writing traffic safety grants, and be comfortable conversing in front of groups of people.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Manages the planning, design, construction, and environmental/regulatory compliance of traffic-related capital improvement projects which include traffic signal, ITS, roadway, and pedestrian enhancement projects.
Manages the Traffic Safety Program which includes performing preemptive reviews, responding to citizen complaints, and overseeing safety grant activities.
Plans, organizes, directs, and reviews the work of professional and technical engineering staff, and consultants involved in the Traffic Safety Program.
Represents the Department at community meetings occurring in the evening.
Graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Planning, Transportation Planning, Public Administration, Urban Geography, Architecture, or closely related field.
4 years of professional engineering experience including two years of engineering experience in a lead, administrative or supervisory capacity that included project management responsibilities.
Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a Civil Engineer issued by the California Department of Consumer Affairs or other applicable professional license required by the laws of the State of California.
Possession of a valid California Driver's License. The Traffic Engineering Project Manager will travel throughout Riverside County to perform field reviews and attend meetings.
Physical Requirements: The Traffic Engineering Project Manager will walk outside while performing field reviews.
