The Miami-Dade County Water & Sewer Department is seeking a capable and innovative Chief of Utilities Development Division. WASD’s Utility Development Division provides assistance to developers and individual property owners in obtaining water and sewer services. The Division reviews applications for new construction or redevelopment that may impact WASD's water and sewer infrastructure. The unit is responsible for providing customers with service agreements, stipulating conditions to service and facilitating connection to WASD’s system in accordance to the Department’s rules and regulations.
An employee in this classification is responsible for supervising, planning, and directing all design the New Business, Plan Review, and Donation Construction Sections. Responsibilities include directing the review and approval of new construction or redevelopment projects, collection of water and/or sewer connection charges, construction connection charges, basin improvement charges, and any special connection charges for increase service, development of WASD service agreements, coordination of conveyance/meter-set processes for new customers, review of proposed development and identification of corresponding water/sewer infrastructure requirements, review of water/sewer plans to ensure compliance with WASD technical and material standards, inspections of water/sewer projects designed and constructed by developers, field testing and reporting to ensure compliance with WASD standards, review and approval of plats and easements associated with WASD projects, and supervision of the damage prevention operation responsible for locating underground WASD utilities throughout County as requested through Sunshine 811 system, among other tasks.
Bachelor's degree. A minimum of four to eight years of supervisory, managerial, or customer service experience in a large customer service organization or environment is required.
It is preferred that candidates have a Comprehensive knowledge of the development process within Miami-Dade County and understanding of engineering/construction requirements of water and sewer infrastructure.
