Contra Costa Water District seeks a dedicated and proven leader with water quality expertise to fill the Operations Control position. The Operations Control Administrator level provides direct supervision to employees within the OCC and/or assumes substantive and significant programmatic responsibility in a defined area or specialty. This position will plan, organize, and direct the activities of the Operations Control Center (OCC) including general oversight of the operation of open and closed raw water facilities and treated water conveyance/distribution systems within the Operations and Maintenance Department; to coordinate OCC activities with other divisions or departments; and to provide highly responsible technical support to the Water Operations Manager and receives general direction from the management staff.
EDUCATION: Equivalent to an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field.
EXPERIENCE: Six years of increasingly responsible experience in water operations, including open and closed water distribution systems, and two years of supervisory responsibility. Work is mainly performed in an office environment and occasionally in a field environment, in all weather conditions.
SUBSTITUTION: Engineering degree and registration, in an appropriate discipline such as civil, may be substituted for qualifying experience.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver's license. Grade 5 or higher California Distribution Operator Certificate. Or Required to have passed the Distribution Grade 5 exam and can obtain Grade 5 certification within 1 year from the start date in the position. Or Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California.
